I hate that mental disorders have turned into a competition. you cant discuss eating habits without someone saying how they survived off green tea for 3 weeks and weighed 4 stone. you can’t discuss your depression because another person has already tried to commit suicide 8 times and theyre only 12. you cant discuss self harm because you punch your leg till it turns purple whilst they slice their arm to the bone. you cant talk about addiction because someone else will talk about facing their crack addiction for 18 years. every god damn time you even come close to wanting to reach out you know theres no point because in other people’s eyes you’re never sick enough. there’s always someone worse off. that’s the problem with attitudes to mental health. this ‘oh suck it up you’re not as bad as me/them’ HAS to stop. you have no idea how much a problem affects a person because, okay it might seem like nothing to you but to them their entire world is breaking down and they just have to wait till they either figure it out on their own, or become so sick that people can’t deny it any more. and by then its usually too late.

Just because it isn’t something huge, doesn’t mean it is easy. Give yourself credit.
REPEAT AND REBLOG AFTER ME
I am beautiful
I am strong
I have a cute buttI will be okay
I am more than my mistakes
My problems DO NOT define me
There is still time to change
I AM loved
I will get through this, in my own time,
and that’s okay
There may be billions of other people in the world, but you ARE irreplaceable. If you kill yourself it will matter.
You parents will never have another you. They may have another child, and that child may share some characteristics with you, but they will not be you. Your parents will never look into your forest green eyes again. They will never hug your body. They will never again answer to the voice of their baby. If you left their life would be flipped upside down.
Your siblings will never have another you. There is something special about you to them that makes you different. If you are the big sibling, maybe you are who they look up to. Maybe you are their favorite person ever. Maybe they love you more than they let on. Maybe they drive you crazy, because they want to share everything with you, and get over excited. If you are the little sibling maybe your older sibling sees you with a halo on your head. Maybe they are their happiness in life. Maybe they see you as the epitome of everything good in the world. Maybe you are what gives them hope. Even if they don’t say or show it maybe you mean everything to them. If they are the same age as you, maybe you are the person that makes them feel okay. Maybe you are what keeps them going. Maybe they wouldn’t know what to do without you. If you left they would lose their anchor.
Your best friend will never have another you. Maybe you are the only safe place they have ever known. Maybe you are their serenity and sanity. Maybe you are the reason they get up ever morning. If you left they would lose everything.
Your [insert relation] will never have another you. If they lose you they will never get excited to see you across a room. They will never look for you at a gathering. They will never be able to listen to that song that reminds them of you without falling apart. They will have a completely different life.
Even if you have no one, you are irreplaceable. If you go you will never make a difference in the life of the cashier you smiled at, that elderly woman you helped, that person you kept from killing themselves. You will never wear that outfit you’ve dreamed of. You will never get that chance to look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I am happy that is me.” You dying will change the world, whether it is several people’s world or just the world you have known. It will change. Never think that you are replaceable. No one will ever be you. You may think that not having you around is a good thing, but no matter how much “bad” there is about you, there is great things as well. Maybe it is your smile, maybe your willingness, maybe your voice, maybe your words, but there is something about you that the world would miss.
just because you are incapable of understanding what this is, doesnt mean it doesnt exist
