“But you don’t look like you have an eating disorder...”

run-margie-run:

People with eating disorders look like this:

People with eating disorders look like this:

People with eating disorders also look like this:

And this:

People with eating disorders can also appear like this:

Or this:

Or even this:

Bottom Line: Eating disorders are mental illnesses, with weight as a side effect. Just like someone cannot “look OCD,” or “look like they have bipolar disorder.” So please, next time you interact with someone regarding this topic, please be considerate of the fact that you do not have to “look sick” to be sick.

Introducing: The Trigger List Blog

Well everyone, this has been literally a month in the making. But now it’s done. The trigger list, expanded, linked, separated, listed by trigger as well as by author, with a links navigation post, and a post about what the list is and why it exists.

Please check it out, follow it, talk about it, link it on your pages, tell your friends about it, search the lists, and of course, continue to send me books to put on the lists.

The master list is still here on my blog, but on the new blog, there are lists sorted by trigger (which has been something I have been asked for more than a few times). I’m hoping that navigating the blog is as easy as possible and I made the font size bigger so that it was easier to read.

So go, check it out, follow it, take a look around. Tell everyone about it. Enjoy it. And please, if it’s not too much to ask, I’d appreciate it a great deal if book bloggers could link this blog somewhere in their links or descriptions. I want this to be as accessible as possible, and I won’t have any gifts to give people who link it, just my gratitude.

bpd help kit by me

borderline-pastel-disorder:

Listen up kids if u have bpd a lot of u probably know mental distraction is the only realistic way to keep yourself from hurting yourself, or others, or even just hurting so bad and thinking so hard that you’re absolutely miserable.

When i get really fucking worked up (which is like three times a day on a good week lets be honest) these are some of the things I’ve done that consistently help me calm down/get distracted:

- Try to name all 50 states in my head

- Try to name all ____: MLB teams, names of Supernatural episodes, chemical elements on the periodic table, etc. (What people know varies for everyone, so just try to list all of something you know a lot about but would still pose a mental challenge enough to get your brain thinking about other stuff)

- sing a fucking song. Bust out into that shit like youre doing a concert and do a whole song you know all the lyrics to and focus on performing.

- imagine myself on a cloud. betslion my best friend taught me this one. Think of a place you could explore, one that you either know well or could vividly imagine, and close your eyes and imagine you’re on a cloud floating above that place. Vividly notice each detail, what you see, smell, hear and feel. In deep detail. Make your journey a long as you want and then travel to other destinations until you’re satisfied.

-think out the plot of a movie you know well or a good episode of your favorite tv show. I like to think of the plot development through all the seasons of supernatural.

- do not and i mean DO NOT start trying to make it personal ie naming all your childhood pets or past best friends or remembering important days of your past bc more than likely this will somehow make u emotional again and lead u right tf back to that bad place

Please reblog and add your strategies. Remember this is just what works for me and it will probably help you if u have bpd but there are always exceptions.

This also might help for good old anxiety or depression or other mental disorders.
