noonlights:

hey so for april fools day tumblr has slightly changed the dashboard to make it into a microsoft word-esque layout it’s calling the tumblr “ExecutiveSuite.”  there’s a button on the top right hand corner of your dash that, when pressed, takes you to a new screen similar to a mac “dashboard” screen with a fake notepad, fake stock prices, a calculator, etc.  a copy machine similar to the old microsoft word paperclip appears in the bottom right corner - it’s a gif that leads you in circuitous a “question/answer” game that may be confusing.  also, the bar at the top to make posts has changed!  the icons are now different.  finally, tumblr has changed your blog url on the right hand side of your dashboard where your settings are.  it now says “Intl. [blog url] Inc.” for your main blog and some variations for the different sideblogs you may have.

you are not hallucinating and you didn’t make these changes yourselves.  im sorry tumblr is doing this.  if i’ve forgotten to add anything or made a mistake, please feel free to add on.  finally, please be aware and stay safe today <3

Applications for The Self-Harm Project volunteers

theselfharmproject:

The Self-Harm project is an on-line community that I created in 2012 with the purpose of helping, listening, raising awareness, and making a difference in the lives of those struggling with their mental health. When I first made it I had no clue that it would get as big as it did, and now I have mostly neglected it due to the overwhelming responsibility of managing it myself. I love working in the community, though. It is one of the things I am most proud of. I need help with it. So, I am calling anyone and everyone who likes to invest their time into things like this. The questions are down below this paragraph. I just need you to answer them and email them to me at team.tshp@gmail.com and I will go over your answers and get back to you as soon as possible. If I like your answers I will ask to have an interview type conversation with you (throguh text, email, kik, etc (whatever you prefer) and then I will decide if I feel that you would fit well in the team. Thank you in advance for your submitted application ^-^ ( Check out The Self-Harm Project at https://theselfharmproject.wordpress.com )

Is Your Anxiety Disorder Really a Disorder?

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness worldwide, affecting more than 10% of the population. Now, are these so called disorders really disorders?

Many disorders were removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders over the years and we don’t consider them mental disorders anymore. So what changed people’s minds? And are the disorders in that book really mental disorders or will most of them be removed over time? Moreover, does a list in a book really define if we are mentally ill or not?

Let’s take a closer look at anxiety. As I wrote in one of my previous posts, Understanding and Overcoming Anxiety, Panic and Phobia, anxiety originates from the mind - from a thought. No matter what kind of anxiety, panic disorder or phobia you have, they all originate from your thoughts - and all thoughts start with one thought.

Everybody has negative thoughts, our minds are infinite and are able to consider all the possibilities of life, so of course it is natural to think a negative thought or imagine a negative outcome once in a while. Now, this is where genes, personality, whatever you want to call it, comes in the picture. Read more»
